What does the future hold??
Have you ever been scared about your future while coping with a chronic illness. I can tell you first hand it can get pretty scary at times not knowing what the future holds. Will your pain always be under control or on the flip side of things will it ever get under control, can you tolerate the meds, will you be able to continue working?
The future can look pretty uncertain when living in chronic pain. The best advice I can give anybody that is new to chronic pain is to slow down. You may not be able to do everything you used to do but you have to focus on the things you can still do. If you focus on the negatives you will drive yourself crazy.
When I get too down and out I laugh. Sounds simple enough but can be hard to do when you are hurting. Watch a funny movie, spend time with loved ones or go see a comedy show. Laughter really is the BEST medicine. I use it all the time.
Take each day one at a time. Learning to accept some will be good and some will be bad. I live for the good days and cherish them and they will help get me through the bad days and rest when my body needs it.
Learning to listen to your body is important. Don't push yourself too hard it will only back fire on you! Don't be too proud to ask for help from others.
Yes, i know it can be hard to let your guard down and ask for help but in the long run you will be much better off doing this. Many people are usually eager to help in some way. Let them! Your body will thank you for it.
Your future may not be what you saw it being and often our paths get off track but it is rare to have everything in life turn out the way you expected it too. Rest when you need too, laugh as much as you can, take each day one day at a time and live for those good days.
